Recycling is the idea of converting materials that would be considered waste from one process into useful utilities.
Processes
Different materials are recycled into different things, using different methods
Material | Process | Products |
---|---|---|
Biodegradable products | composting | produce |
Plastics (Types 1, 2, sometimes 4) | Recasting - can only be feasibly done industrially | Other plastic products |
Papers | Pulping | More paper |
Steel, glass, aluminium cans, foil | Melting | A wide variety of things |
Different materials cannot be mixed together - different types of plastics can ruin a whole batch of recycled products, and mixed-color glass is worthless.
